Injunctions for Protection
An injunction for protection can be an important legal tool for individuals experiencing domestic violence, stalking, sexual violence, dating violence, or other forms of abuse. These proceedings can move quickly, and the outcome may have significant consequences for personal safety, housing, employment, parenting, and related family law proceedings.
Victims’ Safe Harbor Foundation assists survivors with select Florida injunction matters. We help clients understand the injunction process, evaluate available legal options, organize relevant evidence, and prepare for court.
We recognize that abuse does not always involve visible physical injury. Threats, intimidation, surveillance, isolation, harassment, coercive control, and the misuse of legal proceedings may all be relevant to understanding the broader pattern of conduct.
Our injunction services may include:
- Evaluating whether the available facts may support a petition for protection
- Assisting with the preparation or review of an injunction petition
- Identifying and organizing relevant evidence
- Preparing clients for testimony and cross-examination
- Representing clients at temporary or final injunction hearings
- Responding to motions to modify, extend, or dissolve an injunction
- Addressing the relationship between an injunction and an existing family law matter
- Consulting regarding appellate or post-judgment issues
Injunction proceedings are highly fact-specific, and strict deadlines may apply. Representation is determined after an individualized review of the circumstances, available evidence, timing, and scope of the requested assistance.

Understanding Our Services and Fees
Victims’ Safe Harbor Foundation is a 501(c)(3) social impact organization. However, VSHF is not currently grant-funded and does not provide free legal representation. Clients are responsible for their legal fees and litigation costs.
Our hourly rates are generally lower than those charged by many private law firms. Direct representation requires an initial retainer and a minimum balance in the client’s trust account. The required amounts are determined by an attorney after reviewing the facts, complexity, and anticipated needs of the case.
